Cell has no interleaved memory.

Hi I have a new cel on a rp7420, after some troubles we where able to jone the cel to the partition, only now I see that the Cell has no interleaved memory.
How can I fix this?
is this hartware ore can I change it and if I can change is how?

hi the other links does not shows tje "Base*" what I do not want to see, is there a way to make this mem interleaved memory?

Re: Cell has no interleaved memory.

You don't mention what OS the partition is running.

If this is 11.31, it is possible that you did add Cell 0 to the Interleave, but as an On-Line add (OLA, dynamic nPartitions). If so -- this is normal, current platforms do not reinterleave on OLA, so the Cell will be Cell Local until the next partition reboot, at which time the memory is interleaved by the firmware.

If this isn't 11.31 (or this wasn't an OLA operation), then you need to use parmodify to configure Cell 0 with however much you wish as interleave.

parstatus -V -c 0
would give more detail on that cell, including the current ILM/CLM configuration, by the way.

tanks,
I have 11.11 running, Can you please help me out whit the parmodify?

the parstatus looks like:

Re: Cell has no interleaved memory.

is this the solution:

shutdown -R

parmodify -p 0 -d 0
parmodify -p 0 -a 0/0:base:y:ri:100%

Re: Cell has no interleaved memory.

parmodify -p 0 -a 0/0:base:y:ri:50%

is properly what I need, but can somebody can explean thy 50 % and not 0?

Solution

Re: Cell has no interleaved memory.

If you want cell 0 all Interleaved and it is already in the partition:

parmodify -p 0 -m 0:base:y:ri:0

The last value is the absolute value or percentage you wish to keep as Cell Local Memory. Since you've stated you want it all Interleaved, 0 Mb (or 0% either works here) should be cell local ... making 100% ILM.

If you use 50% then half the memory in the Cell will be Interleaved with Cell 1's -- which would give you 16Gb of memory Interleaved between Cell 0 and 1 (so with latency averaged between the 2), 8Gb of memory "Interleaved" with Cell 1... and Cell 1 [which means it is really Cell Local] and 8 Gb of memory officially CLM in Cell 0.

Note the "m" option [modify] instead of the "a" [add] you were proposing. You can't add a cell that's already in the partition without deleting it and re-adding it.. simpler to just modify it in place.

Again, the interleaving won't take effect until the partition is rebooted since it has to be done in Firmware during boot.

Re: Cell has no interleaved memory.

hi,
In the end the -m option din't work but after removing and adding the cel we got te results we wanded,

Tanks for the quick help,
