Compaq DLT 20/40 query
We have connected a Compaq DLT 20/40 onto a K220 server. It has assigned a device files to it and sees it as a DLT 4000 on /dev/rmt/3m. We have tried writing to the tape using tar, fbackup and dump without any success. Can anybody please telll us if there are compatability problems with this.
Thanks,

Re: Compaq DLT 20/40 query
The Compaq DLT 20/40 is a DLT 4000. What type of tape do you have in the drive? Can you also post the error msg?

Re: Compaq DLT 20/40 query
WE tried a DLT type IV and a type III
Both give same error's -
tar cvf /dev/rmt/3m * gives -
End of tape
enter device/file name when ready or null string to quit
fbackup -
I/O Error write error on a record in the ANSII Label
Write error at the beginning of the volume

Re: Compaq DLT 20/40 query
Good Morning, What kind of interface are you connected to on your K220? there is a connection problem with DLT's in that you cannot run them on the HP-PB interface (28696A), but you have to connect them to the HSC FWD card (A2969A). I learnt this problem some time ago when I could not get my DLT to function
