Re: Compatibility of KVM switch with L3000 rp3440 and c8000
Even if you install everything necessary to connect your L3000 and rp3440 to a KVM, there will be *nothing* on the screen until the system has completed all boot procedures and the X Window System starts up.
In other words, your KVM will be useless in diagnosing hardware or boot problems. You will have to connect a serial terminal to the machine's console port, or use the server's integrated GSP/MP network console.
(Configuring the network parameters of the GSP or MP requires a serial terminal, or a computer with a terminal emulator software and a serial port. After the configuration is complete, you can remove the terminal if you wish.)
The c8000 is a workstation-style PA-RISC machine and it has an integrated "terminal emulator": in effect, the display system of the c8000 will pretend it's a hpterm serial terminal until the X Window System starts up.
