D270 LCD Display Code

I have a question about a D270 and the LCD display code.

The machine had had a problem with the Nike array which is cleared.

I notice on the LCD display on the CPU cabinet after the word RUN it is followed by F01F, F21F, F31F, F41F, F51F then back to F01F.

Does anyone have an idea as to what this cycling code means.

I don't remember seeing them before.

Thanks.

Re: D270 LCD Display Code

Hi Ken,

Don't worry, the numbers merely indicate how busy the machine is. I am led to believe that they correspond the run queue, though I have never checked this. 0 means idle, F means very busy.

Re: D270 LCD Display Code

Wow, a D-class and a nike!

Fx1F

F - running normally (both F)
x - current load (calculated)
1 - 1 CPU installed

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

All the years? You didn't look at the panel, right? They are always there.

Re: D270 LCD Display Code

Torsten,

Thanks for that complete reply!

By the way do you know where that is documented?

And, yes it is a D-270 in a tall cabinet with a Nike 20 drive array of 4GB hard drives setup as 4 Raid 5 partitions.

It has been doing a great job since 1998.

Re: D270 LCD Display Code

Ken,
I did recall this from memory.
I worked with this systems in the past.
Maybe I have some paper based documentation somewhere.

It has always been like this since the first PA-RISC box. The unit is 10% and goes from 0 to A.

Re: D270 LCD Display Code

@Dennis

Thanks for the clarification - that would explain why I have never seen anthing higher than A as the busy digit.

Mike.
