Hacking the A4800 PCI SCSI Card for a PC?

Curious ...

Could an HP A4800 PCI SCSI card be used in a PC?

I suspect that it could not be used to boot, but perhaps there is a secondary storage hack available?

Thanks all ...

Re: Hacking the A4800 PCI SCSI Card for a PC?

Hi,

I'm successfully running a A4800 Fast/Wide/Diff SCSI card in a HP Kayak XA PC running Linux Kernel 2.2.25 with the driver sym53c8xx (this card is a sym53c875).
You are right, there is no boot rom coming with the card => no boot via this card possible.
I don't know if it is supported, but it works fine. I also do not know if windows supports this card.

best regards

Stefan
