Hit "break" key by accident now I can't type any longer

To all:

I know this must be a simple answer, but I can't find any key stroke or sequence of "cntl" whatever, that will allow me to begin typing again, after accidentally hitting the "break" key at the top left of the console keyboard.

cntl b, c, d hitting break again.....none of these do anything.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
