HP 3000 A-Class A6399B plus and A7019C plus DC-DC diagnose guide
Good morning.
I have problem with find faulty DC-DC card in those machines. I found already that GSP error log show also low power power supply so I replaced this with spare one. The problem is still present so one or more DC-DC card is propably faulty
Here is code from GSP on A6399B Plus
ALERT LEVEL: 14 = Fatal power or environmental problem prevents operation
SOURCE: 4 = power
SOURCE DETAIL: 3 = low voltage DC power SOURCE ID: FF
PROBLEM DETAIL: A = failed or mismatched to CPU
CALLER ACTIVITY: 4 = monitor STATUS: F
CALLER SUBACTIVITY: 04 = low voltage power supply
REPORTING ENTITY TYPE: 2 = power monitor REPORTING ENTITY ID: 00
0x002000EA43FF404F 00000000 00000000 type 0 = Data Field Unused
0x582008EA43FF404F 00007604 110A1339 type 11 = Timestamp 05/17/2018 10:19:57
Type CR for next entry, Q CR to quit.
I've read that I am able to diagnose which card is defective by measuring voltage on testpoints but I have no luck finding theese and randomly swap 4 master and 6 slave cards might be little bit annoying.
Logs from A7019C plus in atachement
Thanks in advance

This is an old HPE 3000 obsoleted decades ago, not a blade system.

Re: HP 3000 A-Class A6399B plus and A7019C plus DC-DC diagnose guide
Depending on the CPU type you need a primary and 1 or 2 secondary DC-DC modules.
If this is a dual CPU system, I would try with a single CPU to find a valid combination and then test to find a culprit.
440MHz CPU needs 1 secondary, 550MHz CPU needs 2 secondarys.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP 3000 A-Class A6399B plus and A7019C plus DC-DC diagnose guide
I know that switch to single core setup requires some dip switch manipulation. I have no luck to find documentation.
Anyway, I manually checked dc-dc cards and some of them make some kind of rattle noise. After excluded those cards I tried combinations with the spare one and BINGO! Working like a charm.
Sorry that I wrote that late but I cannot logon here since my last post. Some redirections limbo.
