Re: HP 9000 with 28640-6001 - can not get on network
The results of ioscan -fnkC lan:
lan 0 20.1 lan3 CLAIMED INTERFACE
/dev/diag/lan0 /dev/ether0 /dev/lan0
results of lanscan:
20.1 0 UP lan0 DOWN 4 ETHER YES 185
results of netstat -in:
lan0* 1500 192.168.1 192.168.1.102 0 0
824021 823771 72197
We are running HP UX 10.01. The light is flashing on the aui device. We used 50 ohm terminators. I believe the 28685B transceiver is a 10baseT. Is this enough information?
Thanks!

Re: HP 9000 with 28640-6001 - can not get on network
To use the BNC Port, you may have to set the switch settings on the card. If you plug out the card, you should see a block of jumpers on the card that lets you select BNC / AUI. With proper selection, even the BNC should work if the termination and cables are okay. As for the AUI transreceiver, you may have to set the switch settings on the transreceiver to make it work. Refer to the docs you might have received with the transreceiver.
Hope this helps.

Re: HP 9000 with 28640-6001 - can not get on network
Thanks for your input. We have been told that the bnc will not be fast enough to work with the linksys router, and should use the aui. We can ping ourselves, but can not seem to get out of the box using the aui. The light is flashing on the aui card. We believe there is a switch on the aui card to change it from a bnc to aui - but don't know for sure. Is this true? Do you anything about this card?
Thanks again!

SolutionThe AUI Transreceiver that i used had a AUI-RJ45 Converter. So i was actually getting an RJ45 Output from the transreceiver which i was plugging into the network. Moreover the RJ45 was 10BaseT, you can look into that. The switch port in my case was required to be set to 10/fixed/non-neg/half duplex.
The jumpers on the card was set to AUI. I do not use any transreceiver at this place so i do not have the transreceiver switch setting, but i do remember that the switch settings on the transreceiver were required to be set for it to work. That is why i suggested you to refer to the documentation that you might have recd with the transreceiver.
Hope this helps.

Re: HP 9000 with 28640-6001 - can not get on network
We are going to set the "switch" to aui. It has been suggested that we switch to RJ45/aui. We may still do this. Right now, we are trying to go with the card we have. So, here we go. By the way, we did not get any documentation with the transceiver. unbelievable! Thanks again Sanjay!
