Re: HPserver 807S

What OS version is running? 9.xx?

This box must be at least 15 years old.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: HPserver 807S

Well HP-UX 7 and 8 are ancient history I am afraid, and the serevr itself is also a museum piece.
If you still have your install media there should be a diagnostics and recovery tape (or possibly CD)
Use that to try to recover

Re: HPserver 807S

If you changed the boot disk, then you must locate the installation media, probably a DDS tape for version 7, dds or CD for later versions. Hopefully you still have some documentation on installing this very old version of HP-UX.

Re: HPserver 807S

hi,

I think 10.20 was the last supported version on the 807 family of servers

To boot them you cannot do the search command at BCH as it wasnt available on these older machines. Everything is very specific.

you will have to know the exact boot path

ie, boot 16/8/6.0.0

depending upon the boot path of what you want to boot.

Re: HPserver 807S

hi,

According to openpa, 11.0 will actually run on these machines.

this depends upon your apps though aswell

Re: HPserver 807S

Hi Noble,

If you have the install media, it maybe more difficult than you think to recover as prior to HP-UX 9, the sections disk layout was utilised. The install will want a disk that is supported by the install and recognised by the sections disk layout. The oldest SE Disks that support this are 2GB. Other common sizes are 1.3GB, 1GB, 670MB and 535MB. Unless you can do something very clever at the install, like break out of the install to add a new disktab entry, then install maybe somewhat tricky. If you have to load HP-UX 8.x then I would look out for one on those elderly disks. I suspect that the 4GB disk may be a bridge too far.

Hope that helps

Mike.
