K-Class Serviceguard Hardware questions

Hi Guys,

Im looking to setup a couple of old K360 servers as a 2 node serviceguard cluster for a training environment. I have most of the hardware availble but its been a long time since i built a cluster on hardware this old.

Both servers have suffcient NIC's and SCSI interfaces and i also have a couple of disk arrays (Surestore E's with A5616A interface cards) I have a box full of SCSI cables but from what i remeber i need some black terminating cables to connect up the disks (so both nodes can see them), Does anybody know the part numbers of these cables as i need to order some asap.

Re: K-Class Serviceguard Hardware questions

Hi,

the "inline termination cables" were intended to make the cluster service-able.
By using this cables, you can disconnect the cable (connected to the shared storage) from one server without opening the bus (it is still terminated).

For your training setup you won't need them - but you need to terminate the controllers.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: K-Class Serviceguard Hardware questions

Shalom,

The terminators are needed on for the unused connectors on the Surestore unit.

If you need more scci cables, the part number is usually stamped on the card.

For the terminators, see http://partsurfer.hp.com for part numbers.

Re: K-Class Serviceguard Hardware questions

Thanks for the info, that will make life much easier. I also remeber removing some resistors chips from the SCSI interface cards in the servers, will i also need to do that?

Re: K-Class Serviceguard Hardware questions

If you are using the termination cables, you must remove the internal terminators on the card.

If you NOT use the cables, you MUST use the internal terminators.

Hope this helps!

Re: K-Class Serviceguard Hardware questions

Hi Paul,

The part you require if you want the ILT is a C2980A 0.5m 68pin male 68pin female. I do not know if you can still buy them from HP. However 2nd user suppliers should be able to help.
