K200 battery

I have an older HP K200 800 Class system (A3061A) that is maintaining the date/time of when the system is shutdown. If the system is started a day or two later it will still have the previous date/time. I'm assuming that there is a dead (or dying) battery somewhere inside but I'd like to know what type of battery to look for before I open it up (it would also be nice to have an idea where it would be located). It would also be nice to know the battery product number and where I can get a replacement.

Thank you
David

Re: K200 battery

Some replacement parts are listed at http://partsurfer.hp.com

You might be able to avoid this by connecting your system to a local or internet ntp server. Network time protocol will correct your system time right after boot.

Probably still a good idea to deal with that battery though.

Re: K200 battery

Hi David
To get at the battery on the motherboard you will have to remove the printed circuit board (core i/o which is blue top and the orange spacer to the right) to get at the mother board. The battery is a standard one that you could get at any Radio Shack etc. It is a BR2325. I have just taken my K200 apart to look for you

Re: K200 battery

hi, the battery is a coin cell battery type which can easily be replaced. It is situated on the system backplane and will be something like a cr2032 or cr2325 battery.

You will have to move the core i/o board(one with blue coloured top) from the back of the system and then you will beable to see it located near the bottom of the backplane.

Re: K200 battery

Thank you. I was hoping it would be as easy as a PC but I wasn't sure. And it is also a relief to know that I can get it locally.

Thanks for all the replies.
