Re: L class 2000
Thank you for the reply, I am just starting at a job and believe this to be a test of sorts. i have no experience with hpux I really can't tell you if the NIS server is up because I don't know what that means. What I am working on is an HP 9000 L2000 I am now in single user mode I keep getting the error
NIS: server not responding for domain "xxxxx''; still trying
111.11.11 00:00:00 hp1 pid=964 /usr/lib/netsvc/yp/ypbind
Then it repeats bold type and has pid=965
and goes on to do some more pid #'s
When booting the Configure LAN interfaces .............FAIL is a fail
also Set privilege group is a fail

Re: L class 2000
My best guess would be that the heart of your problem lies here:
> Configure LAN interfaces .............FAIL
You will need to interrupt the rc scripts (these are what is running and giving you these OK/FAIL messages) so that you can then diagnose what is your network connection issue. Without a LAN connection, you are not going to be able to contact your NIS server - or anything else.

Re: L class 2000
Oh, I should have added that the usual key sequence to interrupt the rc scripts is <ctrl>break.

This just gives you more details on the errors. That may help you find out why the LAN isn't working.

Re: L class 2000
My boss is now helping me, I will post what the issue was when finished, or ask for more help when he is on something else.
