How to fix boot problem?

Source: 8 = I/O
Source detail: 2 = system bus adapter Source ID:7
Problem detail: 3 function failure.

Is this a hardware problem?

Boot process is showing
unknown, no source stated machine check 0641 and 0640

Could you post the last gsp system error log ?

From your console hit

Ctrl-B
enter(for name-just hit enter)
enter(password-just hit enter)
sl(for show logs)
e(for error logs)
n(for no filters)

Hi Paul,

If your machine can go until BCH mode, you can capture the PIM info and refer this information when you log a call to HP.

Looks like the I/O is the problem (could be : the system board, the I/O device eg. SCSI card).

I refer you to log a call with HP for this issue. You can also capture the information as per Robert-Jan refer to you.

Thanks for your response.

I did contact HP and send them my logs which I captured from GSP. As you already indicated,
HP support wrote me an e-mail back assuming ether system board or GSP board is defective.

This forum is great!

Now, I am going to call HP engineer again to discuss the further steps. Or a HP service technician would have to come out and replace one of the defective boards.
