L2000 with Ultra320 DISK

Is A9761A which is "73GB 15K HotPlug Ultra320 disk, rp54X0 Half height 15,000 RPM low profile SCSI drive for HP server rp54X0" supported on L2000 server running HP-UX? and is there any impact as this L2000 is Ultra-2 Bus.

The drive will work fine, though it will only operate at the speed of the bus it is on. (Ultra 160)

Re: L2000 with Ultra320 DISK

I got a reply from HP telling it will not work as BOOT/DUMP/SWAP disk, if used as data only will experience performance degredation overall system!

Re: L2000 with Ultra320 DISK

That is simply not true. The Ultra320 Disks will not be able to utilize their full potential speed, but they will be no worse than an ultra2 disk would be. Ultra320 SCSI is designed to be fully backwards compatable with Ultra160, Ultra2, and Single-Ended. Of course the bus will only run at the speed of the lowest device.

I've used SC10 disks as root disks in an L2000 without any problems.

I'm pretty sure you'll need a firmware upgrade for these disks.
