Lan Console configuration

Hi administrators.

I have one question for you.
Is possible setup the lan console using SAM, I need setup a new IP address for console GSP.

I can't login to serial console using minicom software, Do you know how setup minicom?

Is a DTE the cable serial?, What's its configuration?

Thanks for your response.

Re: Lan Console configuration

No, you can't set up the lan consolve via SAM. The IP address is set through the GSP interface only.

Re: Lan Console configuration

I don't think you can use SAM for that either. All you need is a laptop or a serial terminal and a serial cable to connect to the MP/GSP and configure it. Once you configure it with an IP then you can connect over the nework (browser or telnet).

Re: Lan Console configuration

Its not via SAM you need to setup LAN Console IP.

Login to GSP/MP. Connect the serial console cable between your windows PC/Laptop and HP server. Use Hyper terminal to get console screen.

Do the following.

Instead of no, type yes when it ask to change the IP address.

MP login: Admin
MP password:

Re: Lan Console configuration

Hi Juan,

There is a serial console cable.
You must have received it from HP when you purchased the server.

If you dont have the same you can search the spare in www.partsurfer.hp.com.
Select your country. You can select Latin America,, since you are from peru.Peru is not in the list.

You will get all the available accessories for the server you specified from here.

Syam

Re: Lan Console configuration

Minicom will work just fine. Just set it to 9600 baud, 8N1 which is the default. Since you are connecting to the GSP, the 9pin connector is a DTE (Data Terminal Equipment), just like a PC or 'real' terminal. You need a standard 9pin crossover cable (NOT a straight-through or modem cable). A crossover cabel is also called a null modem cable or serial printer cable. You can also communicate with the standard Windows terminal emulator.
