Model 20 SCSI Rackmount Disk Array
We have a 9000 K100 currently with 6 2gb 2 4gb and 1 9gb drives. Only the OS drive is mirrored the rest of the drives are striped. We would like to stripe and mirror our entire system to increase fault tolerance. Do all the drives need to be identical to accomplish this? Will the following drive array and hardware work with this model server:
HP Model 20: Type 3232A
Model #: C2200R-H
Contains:
(20) 4GB Disk Module : 5063-5396
(2) Processor : A3232-60003
(3) Power Supply : A3232-60004
(1) Battery Backup Module : A3232-60005
(1) Fan Module w/ 6 Fans : A3232-60006
(2) SCSI Terminator
(1) Rail Mounting Kit

Re: Model 20 SCSI Rackmount Disk Array
Jerry,
It should be no problem to run the Nike array on your K100

There is no good troubleshooting with bad data

Re: Model 20 SCSI Rackmount Disk Array
Install Support_plus if you haven't already and post the o/p of a tools-info-run on the nike. You can really mess up configuring a nike if you're not careful and performance can really suck.
Golden rule of nike is to never remove parts when power is off.
You'll find a lot of nike descriptions here on the disk_array forum that describe it well.
You can boot off the nike too, which is supported, which will save you lvm mirroring your boot disk.. I believe there is a value that has to be changed in the sp though. I'll try to root my notes out on it.. however, why don't you just get a really reliable 18G drive, it'll be cheaper in the long run as the nike chews up power for not a lot of disk space... especially at raid 1/0.
Later,
Bill
