Re: No access to the Web Console

The device thinks there is an open session on it. Have someone power cycle the web console.

That should clear it up.

Sorry,
My english is not very good, can you explain me what do you mean by "power cycle"?

Re: No access to the Web Console

I'm sorry,

I should have been specific.

Have someone(yourself is good) turn off power to the web console and then turn it back on.

This can be achieved with the power cord or the button on the web console.

Your web console is a little gray device, probably the size of a VCR tape, connected to the back of your server.

Re: No access to the Web Console

Hi Steven,

I think that I'm a little lost cause the Console that I want to use don't look like the one in your link. Is very basic black background and white letters

Also there is no vcr-box around the server (may be inside the server?). The server is a rp5400... any idea what i'm talking about?

Re: No access to the Web Console

A web console will be about the size of a vcr tape, and it is normally located close to but NOT inside the server.

It could be almost anywhere though.

At the back of the server is a GSP card. It should have a plastic connector with three cables coming off of it.

1 is for a UPS connection and is labeled UPS
1 is for the serial console and should be labeled Console
1 is for the web console or other device and should be labelled Remote

This trace the cables from all three and see where they lead. One of them is likely to lead to your web console.

I'm no expert on web consoles. As a result of your post I went back to work on getting them to work. So far, by remote GSP is working but the escape key isn't configured properly so I can't do write control access.

I'm, still working on my issue and yours. If you find the device, cutting and starting power would help.

There may be another way.

ps -ef | grep console

kill the processes involved, and that migth clear your error. Also an amount of time passing that allows timeouts can also clear the error. You might want to just try again.

Re: No access to the Web Console

I am wondering you may have LAN console and NOT Web console. Try doing telnet to that IP. LAN console is inbuilt and no extra hardware is visible from outside.
By providing solutions I am helping myself

Re: No access to the Web Console

Actually I have both.

I have not decided which to use, though the web console is working better and lets my operators use browser.

If I can get both to co-exist, fine otherwise webconsole was working as of 5 hours ago.

Have you found and reset your webconsole?

If you are using lanconsole, you may need to reset GSP. The only way I know to do that is restarting the entire machine.

"If you are using lanconsole, you may need to reset GSP. The only way I know to do that is restarting the entire machine."

If you can log on to the server with some other method than GSP, you could try this command:
stty +resetGSP
That should reset the GSP. Resetting may take up to 30 seconds. The GSP indicator LEDs in the back of the server will change during the reset cycle.

If this does not help, I think there is a physical GSP reset switch. Unfortunately, on the L-class/rp54xx series you might need to open the PCI card cage door to reach it - which may mean pulling the server out of the rack/enclosure.

Re: No access to the Web Console

Hello all,
I'm not the server administrator, but the server admisnistrator decides to restart the server. He did it and know everything is working fine. Thanks all for your help i will try that next time.

And I think that I have a LanConsole, it opens in a webbrowser, this why i called webconsole.
