Obtain Current Firmware Information & Upgrade

We are in the process of upgrading to EMC DMX3 storage where they require minimum PDC firmware on host to be 46.34

1. How do I obtain the current PDC firmware version without a reboot?

2. What is the procedure to obtain and apply the upgrade?

Thanks
Premgy

Re: Obtain Current Firmware Information & Upgrade

"PDC firmware on host to be 46.34"

OK, now we can guess about your server ...

It is a PA-RISC, named rp....

Run "model" and post the result!!!

Hope this helps!

Re: Obtain Current Firmware Information & Upgrade

get your version:

echo "selclass qualifier cpu;info;wait;il"|cstm|grep "PDC Firmware"

if you tell the model type, I can tell you how to proceed ...

Hope this helps!

Re: Obtain Current Firmware Information & Upgrade

If you have the online diagnostic software installed (STM) you can run cstm, mstm, or the GUI version xstm if you have an X terminal. Otherwise you will need to boot and interrupt the boot.

Since you didn't bother to identify your host computer model, it's a bit difficult to answer. Some firmware upgrades are done as bootable tapes and other are simply standard patch installations.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Obtain Current Firmware Information & Upgrade

Yes, good to go.

Remember to follow the notes (reset the MP and clear the logs before you give a go ...)

Hope this helps!
