HPUX 11.11, rp5470, MS/SG
Our secure web console does not respond to a ping or telnet. I tried to reset it using this command: "stty +resetGSP and it still will not connect/ping/telnet.
Can I reset the GSP without rebooting the server?
10 points to any good answer
Thank you
Gino

Re: Possible to reset GSP w/o rebooting the server?
Yes you can, as it has its own processor and runs seperatly to the system.
The only thing to be cautious is if you mean the built in gsp? you have to remove the left hand side of the rp5470 to gain access to the button. This may result in extending it from the rack you will have to be careful of cables and alike. Also do it quickly to replace the cover for proper cooling.
The button is on the card near the back if you dont know.
When you do it you need to be quick and near the local console to confirm the reset aswell.
This will result in all network and configuration of the GSP to be lost though aswell, and will need reconfiguring.

Re: Possible to reset GSP w/o rebooting the server?
Resetting the Guardian Service Processor (GSP) causes the GSP to reboot although all configuration data is retained.
To reset the GSP on an L or N-class system:
GSP command: XD
XD : Diagnostics and/or Reset of GSP
GSP command: EL
EL : Disable/Enable LAN/WEB console access.
HPUX stty command:
stty +resetGSP
If you are on the system console (connected to the system console serial port), you will see a brief message to enter "p" to reset the GSP passwords. This message will only be displayed for about 10 seconds and only appears on the ASCII console connected to the local console port on the system.
NOTE: If an external Secure Web Console (SWC) is connected to the local ASCII console port, this message will NOT be displayed.

Re: Possible to reset GSP w/o rebooting the server?
you should first check the status:
stty +queryGSP
if this reports "functional" (or something similar) connect with a terminal emulation via the serial connection and check the status of the LAN:
GSP> ls
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Possible to reset GSP w/o rebooting the server?
#stty +resetGSP < /dev/GSPdiag1
However after this GSP settings will be lost and it will have default ip addresses etc.
So after doing this you have to go to GSP using Ctrl+B and then proceed with ls

Re: Possible to reset GSP w/o rebooting the server?
Might be you have some network issue. But you can reset the GSP without rebooting the server. Reset of MP doen't impect on OS.
Login to GSP>CM>XD>restart GSP.
