if I buy a server in HP, I must pay HPUX or this is free? what is the purpose of the licenses? If the system does not bring installed HPUX, it brings the licenses including?

Hi Jorge,
The license is free. But you have to pay for the media.
Support and updates for the licenses are neither free.
I only speak for the base OS. You have to pay for all the license like fe Mirror/Ux

It depends. On HP9000 pa-risc servers, the license to use is bundle with it. Note that it doesn't convey if you get a used server from a third party. On Integrity Itanium servers, the license is priced separately, since if you want to run LINUX or Windows you don't want to have the cost of HP-UX bundled into your server. No operating system is really free, since you always must consider the cost of support, even if you get a LINUX distribution like Debian and do it yourself. HP-UX always unbundles support from the OS license to use, so you realistically have to buy support for the OS on both HP9000 and Integrity servers.
