Resetting GSP to factory defaults

Howdy,

I have a client who inherited a couple of L class servers.

Unfortunately they didn't inherit the admin password for the GSPs.

Is there a way to reset them to factory default so they can set them up with their IP's etc.?

TIA and points for all responses.

Reset it and keep 'd' pressed.

Re: Resetting GSP to factory defaults

Sean,

if you run the command

# stty +resetGSP < /dev/GSPdiag1

from the console, a message like

"press 'p' within 5 sec to reset all user accounts" will come up.

Best regards,

Re: Resetting GSP to factory defaults

I should note that there is no OS installed on these machines.

We tried a reset of the GSP and held "d" until the GSP prompt came back but still no joy.

We can log in with no username/password but when we try to use the LC command to modify the IP it says that we need to be an administrator to use that command.

Logging in with the default Admin account fails.

Re: Resetting GSP to factory defaults

If you bounce the box you should see what you need to install from the LAN or from a CD. As stated you can reset the GSP from the O/S side of things (see below and above mentioned command). I'm not sure if this is on a L class server but you may have a tiny button on the back it will reset the GSP.

I've added some additional GSP notes which may be of use..........

You can check the GSP from the command line by running this command: stty +queryGSP < /dev/GSPdiag1

It should come back with "GSP is functional".

Run the following command on the command line to "reboot" the GSP (without rebooting the server): stty +resetGSP < /dev/GSPdiag1

When you run this command you will get a prompt on the console: "Press 'p' now to clear all GSP passwords and users...". If you press "p" and then confirm it (you only have a few seconds to respond), the GSP user/password info is wiped. Your LAN info is kept however (you can change it anytime because you now have root ability).

On some servers you have a tiny button on the back of the server. Press it using a pen or pencil. This will also reboot the GSP.

Re: Resetting GSP to factory defaults

Hi Sean,

Did you try login as 'Admin' & password: Admin

Both case sensitive.

Re: Resetting GSP to factory defaults

There should be a reset button on the GSP card, however it's well hidden. You'll have to remove the left-side cover (looking from the back of the system) to get to it.

Re: Resetting GSP to factory defaults

Sean,
you can reset it easily there is a very small
button back of the console and i guess resetting GSP will solve your problem..

Re: Resetting GSP to factory defaults

GSP card has a GSP reset button to reset the GSP manually. if u don't know the password this is only way to recover it and after a reset it prompts for a password .. once u finish that u can configure the IP using the GSP>lc
