Re: RP3440 with Smartarray 6420 - internal hardware RAID???
first of all - it is a sa6402 (not 6420).
See the cabling guide:
http://docs.hp.com/en/5971-4280_2nd_ed/5971-4280-2nd-ed.pdf
You need new cables and install them to connect the internal ports of the controller to the disks.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: RP3440 with Smartarray 6420 - internal hardware RAID???
sa6302
But, WOW I have been looking for something like this!
Faster then my support case.
Only thing is, I do not have the internal cable that goes with it, and I have to wait for the shipment.
A7231-63025 cable for dual channel configuration.

Re: RP3440 with Smartarray 6420 - internal hardware RAID???
Again! sa6402 - 6 4 0 2
6400 family - 2 channels = 6402
6400 family - 4 channels = 6404
>> Faster then my support case.
I'm a quick user in a hurry ;-)
Is this the system you connected the MSA30?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: RP3440 with Smartarray 6420 - internal hardware RAID???
Just something to note, if your cabling the internal drives and planning to have these as your boot drives/logical volume. There is a special procedure to install HPUX onto these as a raid set.
you have to boot the core os cd and then load the files manually to setup your raid and then carry on with the install.
