RP7410 Installation Problems

I am trying to set up an RP7410 Server with 1 cell board, 4 750MHz processors and 16gb memory. The system seems to hang on "Remote fabric initialization Crossbar chip configuration" for a long time and then it throws an error which I can see in the SL logs, but I have no idea what DNA_2_DNA_LINK_NOT_INT or BOOT_NOT_ALL_GROUP_A_T is. I eventually get to the BCH and all devices do show up (disks, memory, processors, A6795A FC card, A4929A ethernet card) and I am in the last stages of installing HPUX 11i v1 onto the disks. Can anyone tell me what these errors are? Below is some of the output I am referring to

Re: RP7410 Installation Problems

hi,

it seems that the links are not working properly either the internal crossbar links or is there an SEU attached? or has there been?

when you started using it, did you recreate the genesis partition or are you using one previously built? if previous build was there another cell board installed?

it would also be worth checking the firmware of the all the components too with the sysrev command in the mp, you may have a mismatch and also check the output of the id command in the mp.

try reseating the cell board, check the pins are not damaged and also check the system backplane and cabling connections to make sure everything is connected as it should be.

failing that see this link for abit of info

Re: RP7410 Installation Problems

None of the components were installed so I had to put it together. I did not create a genisys partition. I am suspecting that the system thinks there should be two cell boards and there is only one. How do I recreate the genisys partition so that it only thinks there is one cell board? or am I totally off base.

I also already ran sysrev and updated all the firmware.

Re: RP7410 Installation Problems

hi,

to create the genesis partition you use the cc command in the MP

MP>CM>cc

see this link for details

http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-1247B_ed2/ch06s03.html

it could be that the system is expecting another cell board.

Not sure but you may need to re-install the os again after recreating the partition.

you could also use the cp command in the mp to view the partitions and details

Re: RP7410 Installation Problems

I ran CP and sure enough there were 2 cell boards listed. So I created a new genesis partition with just cell 1. I then needed to go into the BCH and change the paths so that the system would boot. I restarted the system and it booted into HPUX with no problem. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
