I have a rp5430 in HPUX 11.00 with only 1 CPU : PA8600 550 MHz.
In order to improve efficiency, I'd like to add a new CPU.
My question is : Can I add a PA8700 750 MHz ??
In fact, is the system able to manage CPU 550 and CPU 750 at the same time, or should I have to install identical CPU ???
Thanks.

SolutionNo you can not run a 550 and 750 cpu on the same board. Below you can find the processor support modules for your RP5430.
A5796A
PA-RISC 8500/8600 processor support module - Provides power for two processors - One required for every two processors
A6799A
PA-RISC 8700 processor support module - Provides power for two processors - One required for every two processors
Hope it helps,

Re: upgrade CPU from 550MHz to 750MHz
You need to have separate system board and PSM.
Ensure to verify PDC and GSP firmware revision for new board compatibility.
No mismatch of CPU....
Why are you inviting problem???
Cheers..
