Upgrade DDS2 to DDS4 (Model HP9000 K260)

I plan to upgrade DD2 to DD4 for server model HP9000 K260. I tried to find the part from HP website and most of them is DDS2. Have someone ever seen HP 9000 K260 running DDS4? Please advice.

Hi,

You shold be asking this in the HP-UX forum, but anyway it depends on the OS and Patch level.

If the the SCSI interfaces to a DDS4 tape drive is the same and the OS you're running supports the device driver, then I can not see why you can not utilise the device.

This will likely not work as you want - this server has only SE-SCSI (too slow) or FW-SCSI (not compatible).

Depending on the SCSI controller the OS will bind the tape drive to the "tape2" driver only, this is most likely not aware of a DDS4.
So I guess this will not work.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

All of the DDS4 drives I have seen are LVD based. The K class will not support an LVD controller without third party adapters so this will not work for you.

If interested in more on the adapters search this forum for K class LVD and look around.
