Hi!!

Your system should be upgradable to HP-UX 11.23, however your memory is pretty low. I suggest you upgrade the memory as much as possible before you attempt an upgrade. And, as has been suggested in other forum answers, you should do a 'cold install' of the operating system, as opposed to an upgrade.

Hope this helps.

Re: Upgrade the HP-Unix server

Thanks.
Please tell me one thing that how much memory size the processor support.
How much harddisk I can increase?
And I also want to install SAP Application on that server. So will it support?

Re: Upgrade the HP-Unix server

Hi!!

According to the documentation, the A400 will support 4GB of memory, (2 X 2GB modules, hp part # A6114A,) and the 73GB hard-drive, (HP part # A6804A.)

As far as SAP goes, I don't see why you couldn't install that. You should speak to a consulting service first though, just to be sure.

Hope this helps.

Re: Upgrade the HP-Unix server

Hello Vasudev,
based on the information you provided, your server is a RP2430. that model cannot be upgrade to HP-UX 11.23

some of these models have limitations when it comes to maximum memory and adding a second CPU.

please take a look at RX24xx hardware manual

As of 2008, 11.23 is 11.23. I don't think "PI" is mentioned anymore.

Re: Upgrade the HP-Unix server

Well here's what you can upgrade you HW too.
2 (* only *) PA-RISC cpus @ 750 MHZ. This would be an rp2470. Refer to this link:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00352422

And here's what you got for O/S upgrades, HP-UX 11.i v1 only. You are not compatible with v2 or v3.

See page 11 of this link or search on PA-8700.

http://h20338.www2.hp.com/hpux11i/downloads/public_hp-ux_systems_support.pdf

This is an old box that's hardly worth keeping around. It's one redeaming feature is it can run a 64 O/S.
