warn A008 Serial 1

Hi,

We are trying to boot a D-class machine.
But we are not able to boot it.
If we give command
bo pri isl
the message we get is : not a valid boot path.

If we give :
bo p0 (as found from sea)

The error message we get is
boot device not ready

On Console LED we get : warn A008 serial 1

What could be the reason?

Re: warn A008 Serial 1

warn A008 --> No bootable device found

do you have a mirror root disk you can boot from ?

This looks like a hardware problem on your primary root disk.

Re: warn A008 Serial 1

It seems that there is a problem with the boot disk. If you have mirrored boot disks , try to boot from alternate disk.
I guess the primary path disk is either not getting initialised/spin up properly ( may be due to media or internal problem). Hence you are getting error "boot device not ready "
You can wait for a while to allow the disk to spin up and try to boot from it.If it fail , use alternate disk.

Re: warn A008 Serial 1

Try running

SEA IPL

which will give you all possible bootable devices WITH an IPL on them.

Thanks to all of you for providing me the suggestions and prompt replies.

There was problem with the hard disk and we have replaced it to reconfigure the server.
