Warning: Possible data loss, device connected to mux (HP900 D230)

I am getting a warning message in the /var/adm/messages file. Can anyone enlighten me as to what exactly this means. should I worry about this.

The driver thinks there is data to be sent but the mux port is closed.

This can be due to a hardware problem, or maybe insufficient patches. Both the devices attached to the mux as well as the mux should be examined. In addition, it could be an application problem.
