I'm a new bie about VLAN setup
Before purchase HP Aruba_Instant_On-1930 24port w/ PoE+ (JL684A), I've some questions.
We have setup vlan 1 (Dhcp server from firewall) and vlan 2 (dhcp server from Windows Server) on existing Netgear switch.
If I connect new HP 1930 switch to Netgear switch and setup vlan on HP Swtich specific port below.
HP Aruba 1930 Port 1 - VLAN 1 (can get IP from firewall)
HP Aruba 1930 Port 18 - VLAN 1 & 2 (For Wireless AP) (vlan 1 can get IP from firewall and vlan 2 can get IP Windows Server)
Does it work and correct? Please advise. Thanks.

Re: Setup VLAN on different brand of switches ( HP Aruba_Instant_On-1930)
Hello @Eddy_7 ,
I doubt that one interface will get IP's from two different vlans at a same time.
You can refer DHCP section from configuration guide from below link:
Thanks!

Re: Setup VLAN on different brand of switches ( HP Aruba_Instant_On-1930)
...moreover it looks like you're going to form a loop which should be avoided (if both port 1 and 18 on your Aruba 1930 are going to be concurrenlty connected to your Netgear switch). Isn't it?

Re: Setup VLAN on different brand of switches ( HP Aruba_Instant_On-1930)
Thanks for all reply.
Hello parnassus
Yes, does it work?
VLAN 1 and VLAN 2 are currently running on existing netgear switch. Jus think to connect any lan port between Negtear and HP. Then both switches are on same subnet.
Plan to also setup vlan 1 and vlan 2 for some port on HP switch. Does this work across multiple / different switch?
(Please note that we don't purchase HP switch yet)

SolutionHi @Eddy_7! if you're planning to interconnect your current Netgear switch and the new-to-come Aruba Instant 1930 switch together (e.g. Netgear <-> single link uplink <-> Aruba), you should probably consider this approach: select a Netgear switch port to act as an uplink port (an uplink port is "like" an access port but it is generally configured to carry more VLANs while an access port generally carries one untagged VLAN), this port should be - this is an example - untagged member of VLAN 1 (default VLAN on both Switches) and also tagged member of VLAN 2 (we suppose this VLAN does exist in the Netgear) then the very same configuration should be made on the Aruba Instant 1930's port elected as uplink to the Netgear, this way the VLANs defined on the Netgear (and on the Aruba, matching the ones available on the Netgear) will be "distributed" - via the above uplink - to the Aruba Instant 1930 which is the "end of the chain" and where we suppose the cited VLANs would be used too.
