Spanning Tree - Cisco

I am trying to implement rapid spanning tree between cisco and procurve. The cisco switch lies at the centre of the network and is priority 8192 and is root bridge for all vlans. However, when I connect the procurve it seems to think it is also root bridge, even when i have the force version rstp command on.

Is there a way to hard code the procurve to tell it to never become root bridge and just rely on the cisco?

Thanks,

NJ

It sounds like the ProCurve STP priority is set wrong. What does 'show spanning-tree' say on both your Cisco and ProCurve switches?

Re: Spanning Tree - Cisco

Figured this out in the end. I had vlan pruning on my cisco switch link and was not allowing vlan 1. This is required by the Procurve to send/receive spanning-tree BPDU's.

Thanks
