EVA 4400 firmware upgrade question

Have an eva 4400 running 10001000 firmware.  Had a disk go bad and support suggested upgrading to

11300000.  Our eva is connected to a c7000 blade chasis, blades running vmware.   My question is upgrading the san controller firmware itself is independent of the other pieces, correct ?  I don't have to worry about compatability or are there other pieces I need to worry about at this time.
