Exchange 2003 and SAN Design

Hi All,

What would you recommend for putting an exchange cluster on a SAN. Like the RAID level, and stuff. I did read the white paper but I am looking for more practical stuff.

thanks,

What type of SAN were you looking for?? Do you have a SAN or ISCSI infrastructure in place now?

Hi,

You can create:
- One big volume (Raid 5) for the database.
- One small volume (Raid 1) for the logs (optional)
- One small volume (Raid 1) for the quorum.

If you have a HP EVA, HP recommends that every volumes are in different disk groups.

You need to also take care of replication.

Backups are critical, archiving is critical. So do design your SAN with these features in mind.

It would help if you can specify

1. No of users.
2. Average email traffic per hour.
3. Exisiting SAN infrastructure details.
