Multiple Disk Failure in EVA

Hi Guys

I Have got 5 disk failed in an EVA .But I don't know those disks belong to which DG .I know only the Number of disks in the DG. Now currently One DG is less by 1 disk and other two dg's are less by 2 disks each .After getting the disk replaced ,CAn I group back any of the disk to any of the DG ,To match the previous Number of disks in the DG .How does RSS comes into picture .
FOr Eg :- Disk in the enclosure 5 bay 5 would have grouped to say dg01 (before Failure )
Since I don't know which DG the disk in enclosure 5 bay 5 belongs to .I May group it to DG02 .Now the encloure 5 May have more than one disk of the same DG .
In this case will I loose any redudancy ?

1.How RSS restrucure in this case ?

2.In case multiple Disk failures ,While adding the disk back to the DG ?
A. We should meet Only the Number of Disk in a DG inrevelent to Location (enclosure x Bay x) of the disk
or

b.We shld consider the location of the disk also ..

Re: Multiple Disk Failure in EVA

RSS are always calculated in a vertical form. I think that is hard to predict how the RSS will end. You must have 8 disk enclusures to start worrying about RSS.

I think that you should consider the number of disks when adding to the disk group to maintain the 8 multiple or even ammount of disks. You should consider the location of the disk if you 8 disk enclosures. Try to maintain one disk drive per shelf.
Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

Re: Multiple Disk Failure in EVA

Let VCS decide which disk to add to the group and check the group's RSS state afterwards.

Nobody except the programmers can foresee what the outcome is, because the algorithms are not documented.
