Re: Problem with upgrade SAN Switch HP StorageWorks 8/80(Brocade 5300) from FOS v6.3.1b to v6.3.2e
Hi
First of all you can do a regular upgrade use firmwaredownload (with no switches) this is not a director.
Upgrade is non disruptive that is ports don't go offline (switch doesn't reboot only interface).
After you finish upgrade and interface comes back you check firmwareshow until both versions are the same.
Also you can issue
firmwareshow
or
firmwareDownloadStatus
to see what's happening
why don't you upgrade to 6.4.3b

It's a lot simpler if you omit the "-s" option ("firmwaredownload") and just take the defaults that then follow.

OK, but why do it once and not a second time? On the same type switch.

Hi
I don't understand your question.
Do the upgrade as Sheldon said take the defaults.
In your procedure you did not do commit to the new firmware.
If you need to do another upgrade you have to wait until the output of the firmwareshow command gives two identical firmware versions this means the new firmware has been uploaded to the secondary partition

OH! You've been trying to make the process a lot harder than it really is.
The simple "firmwaredownload" does it all. First it downloads and updates the inactive memory, then it does a HA failover from current to new image, then it updates the other (previously active) memory. When everything is done, the entire switch has been updated. Off the top of my head, "firmwaredownloadstatus" and "firmwareshow" let you see current state, where it is in the process, etc. (I think I spelled those right.)
If this helps, click the Kudos star..
