Upgrading Firmware on StorageWorks 4/8 SAN switch

I'm having an issue trying to update the firmware for our SAN switch. Here's the process I go through on the terminal session:

I'm trying to update from v5.3.0 The firmware file is under the root directory, so I'm at my wits end as to how to resolve this issue. Any help would be great.

did you try \v6.2.0e_upgrade\release.plist ?

(vs. /v6.2.0e_upgrade/release.plist )


Also, since you are at 5.3.x... you will need to upgrade to 6.0.x first, then move on to 6.2.x

You can not jump more that 2 revisions when upgrading.

From the release notes:

Upgrading to Fabric OS 6.0.0b is only allowed from Fabric OS 5.3.x. (6.0.0c is a special upgrade version, only meant to be used in between firmware upgrades)

Upgrading to Fabric OS 6.1.1d is allowed only from Fabric OS 6.0.0b

Upgrading to Fabric OS 6.2.2b is allowed only from Fabric OS 6.1.0a or later. (see page 22 in the release notes for 6.2.2b)

On the switch, can you ping the IP address of the FTP-server? Are they on the same subnet? If not, do you have default gateway set?
If you do not see the login-commands on the ftp-server that means you do not have the network settings right.

6.0.0c is not publicly available but you would have to contact HP support to get the firmware.

Hello all, i think first of all you have to upgrade step-by-step to the latest version.
your problem with the upgrade i think mis the root folder of your ftp server.
make root path the directory of the firmware level eg. v6.3.0c , and in the fc switch give as file name the directory name v6.3.0c

With the newer versions you should try

File Name: /v6.2.0e_upgrade/

but you need to go step-by-step

6.0.x
6.1.x
6.2.x
etc.

Thanks for the replies, I've downloaded the V6.0.1 firmware, but now I'm having an issue trying to get the folder on the FTP server, keep getting an access denied error. Now I've got to fix this problem before I can try to update the firmware.

try to input "/" in filename

Is there a firewall either between or on the FTP server that is blocking the switch?

Can you try accessing the FTP server from somewhere else using an interactive FTP client?
