Hi All,
Now, we have VA-7400 and 1 DS2400 in 2-node cluster environment.
We are going to introduce 3 DS2405 in this existing setup. My VA-7400's
a) Firmware is HP14
b) CV-SDM version is 1.03.
Existing DS-2400's port speed 1GB/s but DS-2405's is 2GB/s. In this respect how can we connect this new DS-2405 in this existing HA setup?
1)We need to upgrade both cv-sdm and f/w of VA-7400? And What else?
2)Is it ok to connect new DS 2405 by daisy-chain?
thanks in advance,
richard

Solution
Richard,
1. you have to call HP and schedule VA firmware upgrade not depending on anything - firmware HP14 is very old and is not very good one. Before upgrading firmware do not forget to upgrade CV SDM to 1.06 (it's a must);
2. you did not mention which topology do you use and if you use switches. You can daisy-chain JBODs, but make sure if you're daisy chaining 1GB and 2GB devices then whole 'FC bus' (loop) should be 1GB (DS2405 has dip switches on the controllers to control its port speed). If you really what to build HA topology I would suggest to turn to switches (or at least hubs) - daisy-chaining CAN have a SPOF (sinle point of failure)

Re: VA7400, DS2400 and DS2405 in HA
Hi Eugeny,
1)Yes, we have upgraded VA 7400's f/w and sdm to HP18 and cv-sdm 1.06 respectively.
2)For, topology, I need more study, i guess.
I will get back to you soon,
and thanks for the reply.
