Error Refresh Gen11 server: Issue Inventory collection has failed for a few sub-resources
I have 37 Gen11 servers integrated in my HPE OneView. Of these 37 servers, two servers have this error after a refresh:
Issue Inventory collection has failed for a few sub-resources.
Resolution Refresh the server. If the problem persists, look at any other error conditions in the activity view and correct those, possibly even consider a firmware update before contacting your authorized support representative.
Both servers have iLO version 1.63 Sep 13 2024.
However, I have two other servers with iLO version 1.63 Sep 13 2024, these have no error on refresh.
All other 35 Gen11 servers have no errors on refresh.

Re: Error Refresh Gen11 server: Issue Inventory collection has failed for a few sub-resources
Yes, as per the advisory, the issue was resolved in iLO 6 firmware v1.55 (or later). Your current iLO version is 1.63 (dated Sep 13, 2024), and the issue occurred only on two servers.
Please follow the steps below to troubleshoot:
- Reset the iLO of the affected servers and check the status.
- If the issue persists, perform an Efuse/reset of the servers and check the status again.
Let me know if further assistance is needed.

Re: Error Refresh Gen11 server: Issue Inventory collection has failed for a few sub-resour
Hi @Rama2
Thanks for the information.
So this is a known problem. When will the new iLO version be released that fixes the problem again?
iLO reset did not help, error still exists.
I know the efuse from the Synergy environment:
"You can use efuse command to disconnect power to the server without physically removing or inserting the server. The Efuse command also impacts the auxiliary power, where the server is removed and the iLO is rebooted."
Does this mean that I have to shut down the ProLiant server, drive to the data center, remove the power and then turn it back on? Rebooting the ProLiant server will not fix the problem?

Re: Error Refresh Gen11 server: Issue Inventory collection has failed for a few sub-resour
Hi @Rama2
I have now done the following on the two servers:
Server 1:
- Refresh Server -> Error
- Power Off Server
- Refresh OK
- Power On Server
- Refresh OK
Server 2:
- Refresh Server -> Error
- Power Off Server
- Refresh Error -> Error
- Server disconnected from power for 5 minutes
- Power On Server -> still Refresh Error
- Remove Server from HPE OneView
- Add Server to HPE OneView
- Refresh Server -> Refresh OK
- reboot Server
- Refresh Server -> Refresh OK
Yesterday I did an SPP update with SPP 2024.09.00.00 (Firmware and OS Drivers using Smart Update Tools in HPE OneView) on another ProLiant DL380 Gen11 Server (iLO update from 1.58 Mar 22 2024 to 1.63 Sep 13 2024). After the SPP update a reboot was done. Refresh error after the reboot:
Power off server, refresh OK, without error.
Power On Server, refresh OK, without error.
I think HPE has a problem here with the iLO FW 1.63 and HPE OneView after the iLO update.

Betreff: Error Refresh Gen11 server: Issue Inventory collection has failed for a few sub-r
I had various errors on different servers. I was able to solve most of them with:
Power Off Server -> Power On Server
On one server, I had to disconnect the server from the power supply, delete it from HPE OneView and then reintegrate it. Everything else did not work.
I also had a case open once, but the deadlines for sessions were not met and no interest was shown in rectifying the error. Since I helped myself, the problem has been solved for me at the moment.

Same issue here with one of several DL360 G11. ILO 6 firmware 1.66 and newest 1.67
Shutdown and power off and remove Power does not help.
I hope HPE takes care of the problem?

Hi MarioE, would you mind giving me the support case number so we can pull some details? Hopefully you were able to upload the AHS file and OV support dump?

Downgrading the firmware of the BCM57414 OCP3 Adapter solves the issue in our case.

In our case, the solution was to install the Service pack for HPE ProLiant Gen11 Version 2025.03.00.00 (all components). Six DL360 G11 were affected.

I have performed an SPP update of four ProLiant DL380 Gen11 with SPP 2025.03.00.00. Refresh after the update without errors.
Today I updated another ProLiant DL380 Gen11, after the update again error during refresh:
- Refresh Server -> Error
- Power Off Server -> Refresh OK
- Power On Server -> Refresh OK
