I am exploring Oneview 3.0 and I want it to replace the traditional management consoles in day-to-day use.
However, it seems that I can't provision TDVV, only TPVV org Thick. Am I missing something?
If not, is it one the roadmap?
In the meantime, is there a safe workaround? I guess I could convert the volumes “behind the back” or create the volumes in the 3PAR cli and import them in Oneview?
Regards
/Søren

Re: Thinly Deduped volumes
Thanks for your answer. That is too bad and kind of a showstopper :(
I will not double the cost of my allflash array!
I experimented with creating the TDVVs in the traditional tools and importing them into Oneview. They gets listed as thin, but otherwise Oneview seems to handle it well.
Is this a viable option until Oneview gets support for TDVV?

Re: Thinly Deduped volumes
Yes, you can safely either:
1) create your TDVV volumes on 3PAR, then add them into OneView
2) create full or TPVV volumes from OneView, then convert them to TDVV volume on 3PAR.

SolutionHi Gary,
How can you be sure? Have you found anything in writing?
Since Oneview do not officially support the creation of dedup volumes
In a hypothetical situation, where you upgrade Oneview, one could imagine that Oneview misunderstand a flag and then does something unexpected.

Re: HPE 3PAR TDVVs

This would be more efficient, since you don't have to run tunevv to convert.
