Will OneView 3.10.07 support ROM BIOS I36 2.56 (bl460 gen9) without an update?

I'm seeing a new ROM BIOS for BL460 Gen9 (I36_2.56) to address the Meltdown/Spectre vulnerabilities.  Along with the new BIOS (but not necessarily in the same package) comes "HP RESTful API BIOS Schemas/Registries - HPE ProLiant BL460c Gen9/WS460c Gen9 (I36) Servers".  A few questions:

  1. Is it safe to deploy this ROM BIOS in an environment managed by OneView 3.10.07?
  2. Will OneView 3.10.07 need to be patched to include the RESFful API enhancements?

I ask because I got burnt by the I36_2.54 ROM BIOS release that was recalled...  ever since I backrev'd the blades I deployed to I36_2.52, I cannot get a clean profile of these blades.  The RESTful updates after SPP update phase don't seem to ever complete.  I'm thinking that backreving the BIOS doesn't undo the processor microcode updates that these Meltdown/Spectre patches install...   Now that I36_2.56 is out I'm hopefull that I can ressurect these blades, otherwise I'm to the point of having to possibly replace the CPUs.

I checked with the BIOS team and was assured there are no changes in the attribute registry for this off cycle ROM update. Given that there should not be issues with OneView showing BIOS conflicts for an applied profile.

I work for HPE.
