Primera startup disk failed
I have an issue with a primera oob installation.
The config is
1. C630 with 2 controllers and 18 sff ssd drives.
2. 2 expansion shelves with 24 lff drives 8tb
We followed the cabling guide and ensured that everything was started up correctly before we discovered to configure.
During setup the hardware check fails with drives 24x invalid. These are for the expansion.
Please can someone advise.
We also tried to restart the installtion numerous times and it stops at thw hardware check.
Exact error is:
Tge following disks are not in an acceotable state.
Disk id (1 or 2) cage pos (1:0:0 to 2:11:0) state (degraded) detailed state (invalid_connection) sed state (fips_capable)
Please can someone help me.

Re: Primera startup disk failed
Hello @Pietervr,
The error is pointing towards those 2 drives connection states are invalid. Have you tried removing and reseating the drives? Hope they are new drives and the same model like the rest of the drives in the expansions.

Srinivas Bhat

Re: Primera startup disk failed
The drives are all brand new.
All drives are the same make and model.
All drives have been reseated numerous times.
All drives are primera specific models.
Problem persists post reseat.
Kind regards,
Pieter

Re: Primera startup disk failed
Hello @Pietervr,
To pre-empt the possibility of any hardware defects with the drive connection heads.. Do you have any option to test some other drives in those 2 slots that are showing connection errors?

Betreff: Primera startup disk failed
Hi,
I running into similar Issues many Times.
My problem is, that the System is Pre-Configured in the Factory, so that's fine.
But for Primera (and also StoreOnce) they miss to Label the Shelf positions in the Factory.
So, if you Cable "Primera > Shelf 2 > Shelf 1" it will fail, they have to be in the same order, as in the Factory.
If you have only 2 Shelves, it is no great problem, but if you have many Shelves, time-consuming.
Hope, that someday they hear us and fix this Issue.
(Trapped last Week with StoreOnce again, maybe, that's only a Problem of CZxxx Factory Build Systems.)
