New Simplivity Hosts MTU Values
Hi,
We have deployed a 2+1 Simplivity Installation. Production Works 100%.
When we move the DR host to actual DR over a ISP "layer2" Link the MTU 9000 does not traverse the Federation Network to DR.
The ISP has confirmed multiple times that they have updated the MTU to accept 9000.
This works 100% for the Management network. ( which I know is not required)
But the DR nodes falls into a suspect and faulty state at the DR site - Due to the MTU size.
to Give more context the Federation network uses the same broadcast domain as the management network on a switch level... at production again all works 100%. The ISP uses a Juniper to facilitate the link to the DR site. we have checked all switches in between and all accepts Jumbo frames. has anyone seens this before? could the Juniper only allow the management range on 9000 and not an additional ip range (federation) on 9000. as Far as my knowledge goes the MTU is set either on switch or Interface level.
Thanks in advance

Re: New Simplivity Hosts MTU Values
Hi RiaanTap,
Good day.
As you mentioned, the federation is 2+1. The single node being the DR node is what I would be assuming here.
So the single Node is connected to the switch for the federation and Storage Network? If so, its not really required in this situation as its a single node, however, if you still have it connected, there is no harm in it. Now, when it comes to the Jumbo frames, yes, you are right, its usually set on the physical switches.
Usually, when the switches are configured, networks are kept in mind if VLANS are configured, so i would suggest, you check on the switch and see if there is any misconfigs, which could be causing this issue.
Finally, when you say, jumbo frames arent working for the DR node, how are you checking that and with what source and destination?

Re: New Simplivity Hosts MTU Values
Hi RiaanTap,
Good day. I hope you are doing good.
Please let us know if you're query is resolved, as we havent received any information from you for a week. In case if the query has been resolved, please let us know and we shall proceed with closing the query. If you still have the issues, I would suggest you to have a check with the network team again on the physical switch and if needed, you can also reach out to the SimpliVity support team who works 24/7 to have a further check on the details.
Again, have a good rest of the day and a safe weekend ahead!!
