Client recovery from Ignite server and VLAN
Hello all
i need to reimage a system from a make_net_recovery archive.
My network connections are configured with VLANs (vlan tag), so switches are configured with VLAN ids for production connectivity.
Does this imply that network installation could fail?
Thanks in advance
RV

Re: Client recovery from Ignite server and VLAN
Shalom,
VLAN configuration has no impact.
To do this Ignite recovery you need to set up a boot helper server to allow the boot across subnets.

And if you are using integrite servers, you can use dbprofiles from the efi:

Re: Client recovery from Ignite server and VLAN
hi RV,
even if u have VLAN, but ur network supports NFS, tftp and DHCP , ignite will work as usual ..
yes if u have DHCP server in ur network and u want the client to boot and get install and temporary IP from the Ignite Server, u can use the EFI dbprofile command to set the Ignite server as the boot server.. even if then u are having problem booting over network, u can plan a 2 step installation by booting the system using a Core OS DVD /CD and install from the Ignite Server Network Archive..
Regards
Sujit
