All,
We currently have an issue whereby we are unable to boot via our ignite server from the network other than at the IP layer. This means that in the event of a system failure we need to get the server back on the network before the recovery can take place.
We are therefore looking at generating a solution whereby we have an image for each of the machine types or groups on a CD. We would use tape but the majority of the servers don't have a tape drive. Anyway we are limited to 700MB on a CD and the colleague whos been working on this is struggling to fit the neccesary data onto the CD. Has anyone got a solution like this in place or has ever generated a bootable cd. Once we have the server on the network we can pull its image across the network.

I have attached a document for you.
But this is only for pa-risc systems.
If you want try to create a bootable dvd for itanium systems, too. This is a comletly different way as described in the attached doc. I was able to boot from the DVD, but unfortunatly it is always failed when the image is loaded. But for pa-risc system this should work.
