Re: rp2470 ignite restore problem
I was examining this thread and your other thread here: http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Ignite-UX/Can-t-boot-after-ignite-recovery-ALERT-LEVEL-6-Boot-possible/m-p/5397031#M23688
What you said in the second thread was: "From cold instaled server I did recovery tape with the same command and it is working perfectly. But when I try to clone the production server it is not working."
This is just a hinch that poped in my head and i think that there may be something that is interupting the creation of the ignite tape on the production server.

Re: rp2470 ignite restore problem
Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
Ignite log from creation recovery tape is same on production and on second server. I can not find any errors.
The only problem and error I can see is from gsp log, but as I mentioned cold install and ignite recovery from the same server is working.
Is maybe lvm mirroring causing some problem? I don't know now, and I am only guessing what could be the problem.
The only think I can come up now is, run recovery shell, but as I mentioned I have no proper manual on how to do that.
If anybody else have something in mind I can test everything in this situation.

Re: rp2470 ignite restore problem
During the recovery, were you able to get to the menu and tried the "cloning to different HW?"= TRUE option?

Re: rp2470 ignite restore problem
Hi Henry,
Yes I was able to go to advanced meny you sugested and change: cloning to different HW?"= TRUE option.
And again, whole ignite is going and when last reboot is executed it is not booting from the hdd which is primary path but goes to isl? prompt.
Any idea?

Re: rp2470 ignite restore problem
Another possibility could be a bad disk. Ignite may not complain when it makes the disk bootable, but the lif area on the disk maybe bad. Can you try another disk? How about using the other disk at H/W path 0/0/2/1.15.0?

Re: rp2470 ignite restore problem
Hi Henry,
I was unable to find another disk to check if it will help. However I did several tests which convince me that both discs are working. I install fresh copy of hp ux and extended my vg00 on both discs, after that I change the positions of the discs and again installed fresh copy and again extended vg00 without problems which told me that both discs are working fine.
However when tried to do ignite recovery when discs were with changed positions again only ISL> prompt.
Is there possibility that mirroring on the production server to make troubles? is there another way of cloning servers other then make_tape_recovery?
I played so long with this with no success.

Hi Torsten,
This is the version of ignite shown in the output of swlist:

and this is from the ignite log:

Re: rp2470 ignite restore problem
Did you see these threads?
http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Ignite-UX/Ignite-stops-a-ISL-prompt/td-p/4885863
http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/System-Administration/cloned-system-doesn-t-boot/td-p/3243304
Maybe there was a problem with this version, but it is probably too long ago to tell ... 11.00 is out of support for almost 6 years now (IIRC)?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
