HP IMC 7.2 P04: Telnet Nortel devices
Hi all,
I've got a couple of Nortel devices which can only be managed using telnet and SNMPv2.
Types are Nortel ERS 4550T-PWR. I've imported them in IMC, I can read CPU and so one, but I can't manage them using Telnet. It seems to give a time-out. The Telnet doesn't work either.
Any ideas?
T.

Re: HP IMC 7.2 P04: Telnet Nortel devices
There are a few different ways to use Telnet from IMC.
To avoid confusion, could you explain exactly what you're doing when you try to "manage them using Telnet" ?
Are you:
- Launching PuTTy
- Using the Telnet proxy
- Taking a backup
- Trying to push out a configuration change

Re: HP IMC 7.2 P04: Telnet Nortel devices
From the IMC server itself, can you telnet to the switch? That is, RDP or SSH to the server, and from there manually run Telnet. This checks firewalls + ACLs.
Assuming that works, attempt a backup, then look at the imccfgbakdm log. Post the relevant content here if you don't understand it.

Re: HP IMC 7.2 P04: Telnet Nortel devices
From the IMC server itself I could make a telnet session.
I can't make a backup.

As above:

The backup will fail. We know that. But you need to try it, and see what the logs are telling you about why it's failing.
