Hi all,
We need to migrate our server iMC from Windows 2008 R2 to Windows 2019.
Our iMC Plat version is actually 7.3 E0605P06, with SQL Server Standard 2012.
I've read that this version of iMC works with SQL Server 2016, but we would install SQL Server 2019, with latest iMC Plat 7.3 E0705P04.
So my question is : can we directly install iMC Plat 7.3 E0705P04 on server 2019, with SQL Server Standard 2019, and then restore our database from old server , or we must install first the same version of "old" iMC with MSSQL 2012, and then migrate after ?
MSSQL 2019 seems not recognizied by "old" iMC Plat 7.3 E0605P06 during installation.
Thanks in advance for your help !

SolutionHi Alain,
Regarding your queries. Please find below information.
> SQL 2019 is not officially support by iMC currently in version 7.3 E0705P07. Till SQL 2017 is supported. Please find below link which provided information regarding OS and SQL support.

> For the OS migration, we recommend installing old iMC version on new MS 2019 and then upgrading the iMC version to latest firmware 7.3 E0705P07.
> For the SQL migration, same as above, we have to make sure old SQL DB is installed on new OS MS 2019 and then restore the DB from old server. Once done we can go ahead with iMC upgrade and then the SQL DB upgrade.

Re: Migration iMC Plat 7.3 E0605P6 / MSSQL Standard 2012 from Windows 2008 R2 to new server Windows
Hi Nitish_N,
Thanks for your very clear answer !
Our Windows Server 2019 server (VMware vCenter ESxi VM) is fully operational (with same IP address, for existing firewall rules and configuration of monitored network equipment).
I therefore followed your recommendations successfully : I've installed MSSQL 2012 SP4 Standard and iMC Plat 7.3 E0605P06, And then I restored all the configuration of iMC with its administration console.
Our iMC Plat Enterprise Edition license (for 300 devices (Cisco) !) has been successfully migrated by HPE.
We'll see later to install the latest version of iMC Plat, after a period of surveillance.
For the moment we'll stay under MSSQL 2012 SP4 Standard (due to our actual license). We'll migrate later to the latest supported version.
Best regards.
Alain
