MP / iLO Options for entry level Integrity Server
we have found that the Management Processor
on rx2620-2's are now optional (the rx2600 seemed to have them standard) and can be added at discretion.
Now with the help of our local HP Support, we have found that there are three options in this
area:
A6875A
A9803A
AB339A
The first one seems to be similar to the MP
found in the rx2600 whereas the second two
are for the rx1620-2 (with or without VGA)
but should also work on the rx2620.
What are the differences of the above options
in order to choose the right one?
And while we are at it: what is the iLO
Advanced Pack (AB500A) and to what of the
above options does it belong to?
Thank's & best Regards,
Arnold

Re: MP / iLO Options for entry level Integrity Server
I can find the Mgmt Card for rx26xx only as A9803A.
Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) Advanced Pack provides additional remote management capabilities, including LDAP directory services, SSH security, and Group Actions with HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM)

Re: MP / iLO Options for entry level Integrity Server
thank's for your reply.
I think this information should be in the
QuickSpec found at
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12141_div/12141_div.HTML
Has anybody an idea how to get that one updated?

Arnold

Re: MP / iLO Options for entry level Integrity Server
read the doc:
"HP Integrity and HP 9000 Integrated Lights-Out
Management Processor
Operations Guide"
http://www.docs.hp.com/en/5971-4274_iLO_ops/5971-4274_iLO_ops.pdf

Re: MP / iLO Options for entry level Integrity Server
thank's for your reply. I've also come across
this document, but it did not help me find the
right card for my server. Interestingly, it
does not mention any MP / iLO P/N's for the
different servers.
However, it does explain the AB500A iLO
Advanced Pack.
I guess we just have to cope with the fact that on some server models, these iLO's have become optional and we have to watch out
configuring them in. It would certainly help
to correct the QuickSpecs though.
Best Regards,
Arnold

Re: MP / iLO Options for entry level Integrity Server
HP Integrity rx2620-2 Server
supplies & accessories
http://www.hp.com/products1/servers/integrity/entry_level/rx2620/supplies.html
OR
http://www.hp.com/products1/servers/integrity/entry_level/rx2620/index.html
-> Option and Accessories
It says:
Management Processor Card (Optional-- max 1)
Management Processor with VGA A9803A
If you need advanced feature of iLO, AB500A would be applicable.

Re: MP / iLO Options for entry level Integrity Server
iLO is a ISS (Proliant) feature that is being introduced for entry level 9000 and Integrity systems. It requires a firmware upgrade.
AB500A is the product number. iLO is being integrated into MP (Management Processor), not replacing it. They can take advantage of the iLO features if they want, but it is not required. For the rx1600, rx1620, rx2620, the A9803A mezzanine card must be purchased to get MP and iLO functionality. You will need the card for Windows if you want VGA console access. iLO on Proliant and 9000/Integrity servers may never be exactly the same.
Hope this helps,
Nico
