rx1600 Linux Installation
I'm having issues installing RH 3.0 on an rx1600.
I have followed the Linux Enablement Kit instructions, have installed the enablement kit. At reboot the EFI sees no valid CD/DVD device after inserting the distribution media.
I have followed the advice from a similar thread on installation for an rx2600. No luck. Any ideas of what to try next?
Thanks

Re: rx1600 Linux Installation
Hi Brad,
you don't need the enablement kit for installing RH 3.0 onto the itanium.
If i think right you have got 4 installation-CDs from Red Hat.
Before RH 3.0 there was RH 2.1 where there was a RH Linux Adv. Server 2.1 Recovery DVD within and that needed hp enablement kit.
RH 3.0 doesn't need that anymore.
Insert the CD1 from the Installation-CDs and in the EFI list up (via "ls") the files in the CD.
Then if there is a file called "elilo.efi" type in elilo.
When "elilo: " turns up, type in (only if you are accessing the rx1600 via console)
"linux console=ttyS0" RETURN
Now the setup should begin and you
just have to follow the instructions.
Greetings from Germany ,
Alexander
