How to copy a volume from HP MSA P2000 G3 FC SAN to HP EVA P6350 SAN?

I'd like to copy a volume of 1TB from a vdisk residing in a HP MSA P2000 G3 FC SAN system to a HP EVA P6350 SAN vdisk. How should I connect between the two and perform the volume copy operation?

I see there is a "volume copy" functionality in HP SMU interface, but does it work for copying to another SAN? Also there is a replication option to remote system, but can I connect to a different product line of SAN i.e. EVA from MSA?

Thank You.

Consider backup/restore. Replication only works from MSA to MSA.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Hello Torsten, from the manuals of MSA P2000 G3 I can't exactly find a "backup/restore" function. Can you please elaborate on how to do that? Are you talking about filesystem level copy from a host connected to the SAN?

There is a "Remote Snap" feature that goes like this

Remote Snap replication is a licensed feature for disaster recovery. This feature performs asynchronous (batch)
replication of block-level data from a volume on a local storage system to a volume that can be on the same system
or on a second, independent system. This second system can be located at the same site as the first system or at a
different site.

So, does this feature also apply only from MSA to MSA or it can be used to copy the volume to EVA vdisk?

Thank You.

Backup/restore means from server level. All replication works from MSA to MSA only.

Hope this helps!
