Several MSA 2060 - Controller keeps crashing
Hello everyone,
I have several customers using an MSA 2060. All of them occasionally experience the issue that one or both controllers of the MSA become unreachable.
Sometimes a reboot via CLI is sufficient. However, in many cases this doesn’t work, and the entire controller has to be physically removed.
Since this error keeps occurring with all customers, I have to assume that this is a widespread problem. We never had these issues with the "older" MSAs.
Question: Is this a known issue, and is there a solution for it?
Thank you very much.

Re: Several MSA 2060 - Controller keeps crashing
Hi @Knaeckebrot ,
I believe that you are referring to controller management IP address access issues.
MSA management controller may move to an unresponsive state in older version firmware due to several reasons like frequent polling from monitoring software, network scan software polling or even due to glitches identified in older version firmware.
IN210P002 firmware version has several fixes included for management controller issues.
In newer version controller firmware, management controller memory exhaustion scenarios is identified by MSA firmware in advance and an auto restart of management controller is initiated.
This ensures that MC IP remains accessible.
If the arrays are reporting storage controller crashes or management controller access issues despite firmware being the latest version, I would suggest logging an HPE support case to investigate further.
